Vitamix Stainless Steel Blender Carafe is Far Better Than The Plastic One
I use my Vitamix blender at least 5 times a week, sometimes more. As I’ve mentioned before on Kitchen511, I have a bit of an Açaí Smoothie addiction, so it’s busy whipping up my morning breakfast on a very regular basis. But it drove me crazy that it never looked clean enough after I scooped out the deep purple puree and washed it by hand. (Catherine has made it very clear over the years that plastic should not be placed in the dishwasher, and scrubbing it with a sponge never quite did the trick; she’s also pointed out that it’s not ideal to blend hot soups in a plastic carafe.) So when she decided to invest in—and at $250, I do mean invest in—the Vitamix Stainless Pitcher for her blender, I quickly followed her lead. It’s not only a safer alternative to the plastic carafe, it has greater aesthetic appeal, and the 48 oz. size fits perfectly beneath my cabinets, unlike the 64 oz. plastic one.
